Description:
The Cornerstone church council has asked Dr. Arjan de Visser to do three presentations on the work of office-bearers in the church of Christ. While these evenings are meant to equip elders and deacons for their work, any past present and future office-bearers who are interested in this topic are encouraged to join in and be edified.
The program is as follows:
Feb. 2 – the work of office-bearers in general
Feb. 9 – the work of elders
Feb. 16 – the work of deacons
Time: Each evening starts at 8:00 pm and will end no later than 9:45 pm.
Recommended literature on the work of elders: Timothy Z. Witmer, The Shepherd Leader: Achieving Effective Shepherding in Your Church. P&R Publishing, 2010. On the work of deacons there is a brand new book by Dr. C. van Dam, The Deacon: Biblical Foundations for Today’s Ministry of Mercy. Reformation Heritage Books, 2016.
